Pokémon games have always released in pairs for a reason, and it is because each game contained a number of different pocket monsters that could only be obtained in that particular game. It has been that way since the dawn of the franchise, and now, Nintendo is adding yet another layer of version exclusivity by revealing that both Pokémon Sun and Moon will each have an exclusive "Ultra Beast."

What's an Ultra Beast? That's a good question. Not much is known about the mysterious new creatures, but it's clear they aren't Pokémon and that they don't seem to have the best interests of the Alola region at heart. Nintendo recently revealed the jellyfish-like UB-01, which will appear in both versions of the game, and now, two more of the mysterious creatures have been unveiled.

UB-02 Absorption will appear exclusively in Pokémon Sun and will be the Ultra Beast of choice for players who prefer raw strength. According to the official Pokémon website, "the extent of its strength is unknown. Its entire body is covered with bulging, powerful muscles. The full force of a punch powered by these muscles would be off the charts! Its distinctively long mouth is said to be harder than diamonds."

UB-02 Beauty will appear exclusively in Pokémon Moon. UB-02 Beauty is said to be able to move so fast that it can dodge a lightning bolt, but that's not where its true power lies.

"It is said that any Pokémon that sees UB-02 Beauty, regardless of its own gender, will become infatuated with it and lose the will to battle," states the Pokémon website. "The exact reason for this reaction — whether it's an unidentified pheromone exuded by UB-02 Beauty or a hypnotic effect induced by its appearance — has not been determined."

There are a number of fan theories regarding the Ultra Beasts and their true nature, with fans picking up on the fact that UB-02 Beauty looks an awful lot like the Aether Foundation leader Lusamine. Could it be that the Ultra Beasts are able to take human forms? However, if so, what is their goal?

Those questions will have to wait until the official release of Pokémon Sun and Moon on Nov. 18 for Nintendo 3DS.
