When it comes to creating the best gaming rigs, Razer has always been keen to trying new things in order to set it apart from other laptop makers. This year, the Irvine-based company is looking to take their laptop designs to the next level with the new 17-inch Razer Blade Pro.

Touted as a high-end desktop in the body of a laptop, this latest iteration of the Blade computer features Nvidia Pascal-based graphics in the form of the GeForce GTX 1080, which easily trumps GPUs typically found in other gaming notebooks.

With the GTX 1080, the 17-inch Razer Blade Pro can handle graphics-heavy games such as Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Rise of the Tomb Raider. It also provides excellent support, superb processing speed and power efficiency for virtual reality graphics.

The Razer Blade Pro is fitted with Intel Core i7-6700HQ Quad-Core Processor that can run at 2.6 GHz to 3.5 GHz and 32 GB DDR4 dual-channel memory, the most that Razer has ever placed in a Blade laptop.

In terms of storage options, you can choose a Blade Pro with 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB SSD Raid 0 capabilities. Compared to other laptops, this one doesn't operate using a hard drive.

Those specs are already impressive enough but perhaps what is most intriguing about this gaming rig is that Razer was able to fit all of those specs and then some in a 0.88-inch thick frame.

Carrying the Blade Pro is also a cinch as it only weighs around 7.8 pounds. This means you can play your favorite high-end PC and VR games practically anywhere you want. The 17-inch Razer Blade Pro is definitely not your ordinary PC gaming laptop.

"This is now the king of the Razer Blade lineup," Razer product marketing director Kevin Sather said. "It brings a whole different kind of performance over the prior generation."
