Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned - or a woman who just had her leftover meatballs and spaghetti tossed out with the trash. Lest be doused with nail polish remover and get set ablaze by the owner of said Italian cuisine.

According to reports, that's exactly what happened in Clearwater, FL when, after a night of drinking with her roommate, 33-year-old Melissa Dawn Sellers discovered that he had thrown out her food.

Sellers was living with 42-year old Carlos Ortiz Jr., who helped her take care of her dogs, took her in to his apartment when she was evicted because she was unable to pay her rent after she lost her job at Walmart.

Ines Causevic, a neighbor who witnessed the fight, said that Sellers started setting little object on fire in her rage when she suddenly poured the nail polish remover on Ortiz and lit him with either a lighter or a cigarette.

"When he got up, his face was like melting off, it was pink and sore. His lips were burning," she said.

Apparently Sellers immediately regretted her extreme actions and attempted to throw water on Ortiz and rip off his shirt as soon as she realized what she had done. After Ortiz was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment for burns on his face, chest, and shoulders, she stayed at her stepfather's home nearby.

Clearwater Police arrested her when she returned to the apartment she shared with Ortiz. Sellers was charged with aggravated battery and attempted murder and is being held without bail at the Pinellas County jail for breaking her probation - she was arrested in 2008, also for battery.

According to a friend of Ortiz, Katherine Muds, he was a nice man and she couldn't imagine him hurting anybody. Sellers, on the other hand, had a temper and had broken windows at the apartment in the past.

Ortiz is listed in critical condition due to the extent of his injuries.
