LG G5 owners on Sprint are in for some good news, as Android 7.0 Nougat is now rolling out to the smartphone.

Both Sprint and LG have a good track record when it comes to delivering timely Android updates, and the current Android Nougat rollout in the United States proves it once again.

The LG G5 started receiving the Nougat treat a couple of weeks ago in South Korea, signaling that it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world would get to taste the latest Android OS flavor.

Android 7.0 Nougat Update For Sprint LG G5

Sprint is now the first U.S. carrier to start pushing Android 7.0 Nougat to its LG G5, but others are expected to follow suit soon enough. The latest Android flavor brings improved performance, security updates and other enhancements, and weighs in at 1,275.4 MB. A number of Reddit users report getting the update already, and it seems that multi-window support is in the mix.

The update also includes the November Android security patch and basically brings the LG G5 on par with the LG V20, which shipped with Android Nougat on board out of the box.

The user interface now resembles stock Android more closely, particularly in terms of quick settings and the notification menu, but the notification cards remain white even though the themes change colors for the rest of the UI.

As a reminder, the LG G5 features a 5.3-inch display with a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of RAM and a 2,800 mAh removable battery, among the highlights. Moreover, the LG G5 is also modular, meaning that it allows users to add or swap various extensions called LG G5 Friends to customize their smartphone and upgrade the areas they're most interested in.

Android 7.0 Nougat Features

Lastly, the update brings all the cool Android 7.0 Nougat features users have come to love, including Instant Apps, which enable users to try out apps before downloading them, multi-window support for two apps in split-screen view, improved UI and notifications, Doze on the Go, searchable apps, Quick Switch and more.

With Sprint already rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to its LG G5, it shouldn't take too long until other major U.S. carriers follow suit and release the update as well.
