Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey found himself banned from his own popular microblogging platform last Nov. 23. It immediately sparked speculation that he has been axed from the company, which he has co-founded.

The ruckus was about to gather more steam only to be unceremoniously debunked as Dorsey's Twitter account @jack, which was suspended 9 p.m. ET, went live again after 15 minutes. The account, however, lost its almost 4 million followers.

Now, Twitter has failed to explain about Dorsey's brief ban. So it may be assured that rumor mongering has started to pick up where it left off.

On @Jack Twitter Ban

One of the claims involved a potential hacking attempt. The suggestion is that it might have prompted the Twitter team to take preemptive measures. From this standpoint, banning Dorsey's account is seen as a move to effectively stop any form of breach on its tracks.

There are also those who note that Twitter has been slow banning people who are perpetrating hate speech and harassment in the past but that it is quick to suspend accounts that post obscene content. Does this mean Dorsey has been guilty of the latter? No one is quite prepared to propose such an assumption yet.

Jack Dorsey Speaks

Dorsey finally posted a tweet addressing the issue, saying that it was all caused by internal mistake.

As to what that "internal mistake" is still subject to anyone's guess. It will also not be surprising if people began seeing more into the "internal" reference.

Was it a technical glitch perhaps? Does it involve Twitter, the organization?

Whatever the case is, if speculations get out of hand, a more detailed official statement should be in order.

Twitter's Revenue Struggles

Part of the reason Twitter invites a great deal of attention these days is its perceived financial struggle. While it is still earning tons of money, it had to deal with several recent setbacks, which affected its market value. For example, Salesforce backed out as a potential buyer, dragging Twitter to the auction block once again. There are also reports that it is firing hundreds of employees.

As CEO, Dorsey bears the brunt of investors' unhappiness, which explains the rumor of his ouster after his account's brief suspension. Observers must have recalled that Adam Bain, Twitter's Chief Operating Officer has recently resigned and is only hanging around Twitter to oversee a transition of responsibilities. It must be noted that Bain has been in charge of the company's revenue generating organizations.
