Thursday, Nov. 24, is Thanksgiving Day — a holiday to spend time with loved ones and indulge in some great food.

If the couch potato in you is too lazy to head out shopping, have had your fill with online deals, or do not know how to tackle the awkward silence while interacting with the cousin you haven't met in decades, then a great way to unwind over the long holiday is to binge watch some movies that are synonymous with the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Here are some of our top 5 picks to watch on Turkey Day.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

This 30-minute long film is a classic (released in 1973) that shows the true spirit of the holiday. Peppermint Patty invites herself to Chuck's for Thanksgiving dinner. However, she is unimpressed by his cooking acumen — or lack thereof — when he whips up toast instead of the traditional Turkey.

Marcie, however, gently reminds Patty and Charlie that the spirit of the holiday lies in togetherness, being with friends and family and not the Turkey.

Blind Side

This movie — a biography of American football player Michael Oher — shares how the homeless teen experiences Thanksgiving dinner for the first time in his life at the Tuohy's. That moment makes him realize how welcoming the Tuohys are, treating him as one of their own. The poignant moments captured in the movie Blind Side, which also stars Sandra Bullock, hit home the message of gratitude for having friends and family who care.

Grumpy Old Men

This romantic comedy revolves around two neighbors who have a common love interest, but never got along since they were little kids. Things got complicated with the arrival of the new female neighbor, who both show interest in. This lighthearted movie is a great watch and also has a really amusing Thanksgiving scene, which will have you rolling with laughter!

Garfield's Thanksgiving

This animated movie about everyone's favorite lazy and fat cat will be a hit with children and adults alike. The movie shows how Garfield could use a lesson in gratitude as he selfishly gloats when Jon's attempts at a luscious Thanksgiving Dinner, meant to impress his girlfriend Liz (Garfield's Vet) seem to meet with disaster. Garfield, however, soon realizes his erroneous ways and helps Jon save the day.

National Lampoon's Holiday Reunion

What will happen when long-lost members of a family get together to celebrate the occasion? Plenty of drama and chaos of course, peppered with plenty of laughter. Throw in an uptight city chap Mitch with his laidback country bumpkin cousin Woodrow and there is a clash of worlds.

This movie is a laugh riot and has all the recipes for a disastrous Thanksgiving dinner in place!
