Pokémon Sun and Moon brought a whole bunch of new Pokémon to the table, and because of that, it might get a bit confusing to figure out which ones to add to your team to become a master trainer.

To help you along the way, here are a few of the best Pokémon to catch to win battles, as they have some of the highest growth in terms of base stats and useful abilities.

Golisopod

Evolving from Wimpod, Golisopod is pretty similar to Magikarp and Gyarados in the sense that a weak-looking Pokémon gets a huge boost in power at a certain level and turns into a force to reckon with.

As a Bug and Water type, Golisopod can learn one of the strongest Bug type moves called X-Scissor. In addition to that, it can also learn Surf and Waterfall.

More than that, it also knows Emergency Exit, which is the Pokémon's signature ability. Thanks to that, it can switch out in battle when its HP drops below half.

With high Attack and Defense stats, it can basically take a beating and take down opponents with little or no problem.

Wimpod evolves into Golisopod at level 30.

Crabominable

A Fighting and Ice Pokémon with high Attack stats, Crabominable is a beast to behold in Pokémon Sun and Moon because of its Iron Fist ability that increases its punching moves' damage by 20 percent.

That means it's flexible in battle, packing a souped-up punch in every attack, as Iron Fist applies to Dizzy Punch, Fire Punch, Ice Hammer, Ice Punch, Dynamic Punch and Power-Up Punch.

To evolve Crabrawler into Crabominable, you have to level it up in Mount Lanakila.

Vikavolt

Just like Golisopod, Vikavolt can learn X-Scissor, and as anyone can imagine, that's a good thing.

Aside from its Levitate ability that lets it stay safe from Ground moves, it also has another notable move called Volt Switch, allowing it to switch out of battle and damage the opponent at the same time, which is more or less an upgraded version of Emergency Exit.

To get a Vikavolt, you have to level Grubbin until level 20 to evolve it into Charjabug. After that, get Charjabug to level up in Vast Poni Canyon.

There you have it — three Pokémon to help you on your way to becoming the champion of Alola.
