Sony announced that it has now sold over 50 million PlayStation 4 units worldwide, a milestone that was reached after the console's best Black Friday week performance.

The figure includes all three versions of the PlayStation 4, namely the original model, the PlayStation 4 Slim and the PlayStation 4 Pro.

Sony Reaches Sales Milestone For PlayStation 4

"We're truly delighted that the PS4 community continues to flourish since launch three years ago," said Sony Interactive Entertainment President and Global CEO Andrew House in a statement.

Launched in November 2013, the PlayStation 4 took just over three years to achieve the massive sales milestone. Pushing the console over the 50 million mark, Sony claims, is the best ever Black Friday week that the PlayStation has ever recorded in the brand's history.

It should also be noted that the figures that Sony presented are for PlayStation 4 units that have been sold through to customers and not just those purchased by retailers to put on shelves, making the milestone that much more impressive.

Sony added that software sales for the PlayStation 4 also remains strong, with 369.6 million units of PlayStation 4 games sold globally so far, including both physical copies and digital downloads. This equates to 7.39 games owned per PlayStation 4 unit.

PlayStation 4 Vs. Xbox One

The PlayStation 4's chief competitor, Microsoft's Xbox One, still lags far behind in terms of number of units sold. While it has recently started to gain ground on the PlayStation 4, with Adobe recently reporting that the Xbox One actually outsold the PlayStation 4 in this year's Black Friday shopping holiday, the gap between the two consoles is still massive.

Earlier in the year, it was reported that Microsoft had sold 18 million units of the Xbox One, which was still less than half of the 40 million units of the PlayStation 4 that were sold at the time.

PlayStation 4 Uncharted 4 Bundle For $249.99

The PlayStation 4 Uncharted 4 bundle for $249.99 proved to be a very popular deal over the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events. Due to the immense demand for the offer, Sony revealed that it will be bringing back the deal for a limited time, from Dec. 11 until Dec. 24.

The bundle includes a 500 GB PlayStation 4 Slim, a DualShock 4 controller and a copy of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

For gamers who have not yet purchased their own PlayStation 4, the aforementioned bundle is a great offer that could be too good to pass up.
