Mega Man, along with Morrigan of Darkstalkers and Ryu of Street Fighter, were the first Capcom characters revealed to be part of the roster for long-awaited crossover fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

It seems that the Blue Bomber will not only be making his return on consoles though, as an announcement by Capcom revealed that he will also be coming to mobile devices.

Mega Man Revived

After the announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite earlier in the month at Sony's PlayStation Experience 2016, Capcom also said that it will be reviving dormant franchises, without specifying which of its properties will soon be receiving new releases.

In what could be a move that would eventually lead up to these promised new releases, Capcom announced through an official blog post that the first six Mega Man games will be released for the iOS and Android mobile operating systems in January.

The games, which were all originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, are Mega Man from 1987, Mega Man 2 from 1988, Mega Man 3 from 1990, Mega Man 4 from 1991, Mega Man 5 from 1992, and Mega Man 6 from 1993.

All six 8-bit Mega Man games will have their titles appended by the word Mobile, and will cost $1.99 each.

According to a spokesperson for Capcom, the purchase price will unlock the entire game, with gamers to expect no further microtransactions after buying any of the coming Mega Man mobile titles.

An Improved Mega Man Mobile Experience

The pending release of the first six Mega Man games on mobile devices will mark the first time that all titles will be available on iOS and Android. However, they will be receiving improvements compared to the original NES experience. Capcom has optimized the titles for mobile devices, with adjustments made to the speed of the games and also to their visuals, so that they would look good on high-resolution screens.

Capcom has previously released the same six games under the bundle known as the Mega Man Legacy Collection, which was launched in August 2015 for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One and then in February this year for the Nintendo 3DS. The company clarified that the Mega Man mobile games will not be ports of the Mega Man Legacy Collection, so it is unclear whether the improvements made to the bundle such as HD restoration, extra content, and online leaderboards will also be featured in the mobile versions.

Mega Man Mobile Games Coming In January

Capcom has not revealed an exact release date for the Mega Man mobile games, only stating that they will be released in the month of January 2017. The company, meanwhile, has put up a page on its website where interested gamers can sign up so that they will be notified once the games are available.
