Ever since Nokia's comeback to the smartphone market was confirmed, the rumor mill has been churning out information on the devices that the company will offer in 2017.

The latest news on Nokia's upcoming smartphones are leaked images that are allegedly sketches of the Nokia D1 and Nokia E1, which are rumored to be unveiled the first quarter next year.

Nokia D1, Nokia E1 Sketches

Nokia Power User reported the leaked sketches of the Nokia D1 and the Nokia E1, which were said to be coming from a reliable source that has been behind many leaks of Nokia and Microsoft prototypes.

A first glance at the two images shows that the Nokia D1 and the Nokia E1 have similar designs, with identical backs and multitasking buttons located on either side of the home button. The Nokia branding is also shown to be placed on the upper right corner of the smartphones.

However, a closer look reveals a few important differences between the two smartphones. For example, Nokia E1's home button looks like a capacitive circle, but for the Nokia D1, the home key is oval-shaped. This is because the Nokia D1's home button is said to also come with a fingerprint scanner function. There is no confirmation on whether the home buttons can be physically pressed by users, though.

It is also worth noting that the design of the Nokia D1's body features a bit more curves at its side compared to the Nokia E1. The position of the front LED flash is also different for the two devices.

In addition, the leak mentioned that the upcoming devices will have 5-inch and 5.5-inch variants. It is unclear whether this confirms previous rumors that the Nokia D1 will have two models, or if the Nokia D1 will come with a 5-inch screen and the Nokia E1 will have a 5.5-inch screen.

Other Nokia Smartphone Rumors

Earlier in December, it has been rumored that the Nokia D1C, which could also be the Nokia D1, would come with 5-inch and 5.5-inch variants, which coincides with the notes for the leak of sketches. The smaller variant is said to come with a price tag of $150, while the larger version is said to have a price tag of $200.

Details on the Nokia P flagship Android smartphone were also said to have leaked, with the device to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with 6 GB of RAM and a 23 MP rear-facing camera. The Nokia Z2 Plus was then discovered on Geekbench, sporting Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 4 GB of RAM.
