The ZTE Axon Mini is back in the news, as the company is gearing up to launch a software update scheduled to go live at 2 a.m. EST on Jan. 12.

The update brings several enhancements to the camera, as well as the December security patch for Android outed by Google.

ZTE treated its customers with a $50 discount on the Axon 7 and Axon 7 Mini smartphones' market prices during Black Friday 2016 sales and now plans to provide its customers with enhancements like VoLTE support, Android security patches for Google, and camera upgrades.

ZTE informed users through its internal community that the updates will be available for the Axon 7 Mini's all three builds. The Axon 7 Mini currently has three builds in the market, namely B12, B14MR2 and B16.

ZTE USA's official community thread shared all the three builds will get the software update, which will bring the Axon 7 Mini to the B21 build.

Software Update For B12

The B12 build of ZTE Axon 7 Mini will get enhancements like VoLTE support, updated Google December security patch, brand new APN to go with all major North American carriers, updates of major Google applications, superior camera focus speed, and night mode in camera settings along with other general developments.

Installation of these updates will upgrade the build of the phone to B21.

Software Update For B14MR2 And B16

The official community post on the ZTE U.S. website also stated the software updates for builds B14MR2 and B16.

The B14MR2 and B16 builds have already gotten the VoLTE and other enhancements, but not the Google December security patch, new APN, and other general updates. The updates on these two builds will also bring the devices to B21.

Before installing the updates, ZTE recommends its users charge the Axon 7 Mini to at least 30 percent for a glitch-free setup.
