Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) users have plenty to rejoice about. The Town of Light, a psychological horror game, is all set to release on the two gaming consoles.

The game released for Microsoft Windows in 2016 is now poised to debut on the other two gaming consoles soon.

An official date has not been announced for the launch of The Town of Light, but the game is expected to release for both the consoles in the second quarter of 2017.

Italian game developer LKA announced the news regarding the launch of the game, and discussed a bit about its story on the PlayStation blog.

"The Town of Light delves into a number of delicate themes through the eyes of protagonist Renée, a resident of the institution, as she tries to piece together her past, exploring the ruins of the facility where she endured much of her youth," notes the blog post.

A revamped version for PC is also expected to roll out soon. 

The Town Of Light: What Is It About?

The Town of Light is a first-person horror survival game, set in a mental institute called Volterra asylum which was shut down in 1978 due to reports of severely cruel medical practices. The asylum had over 6000 patients and is still standing today.

The game contains several jump scares and themes of horror, which are not suitable for children. It is set in Charcot and the location had been carefully and accurately recreated by the development team. Luca Dalco, of LKA also said that they wanted to give the player a peek into the plight of the patients who suffered at the hands of doctors there.

This further supports the game's claim that the game was based on a real mental asylum and the horrific deeds which occurred.  The gameplay is quite basic and simple and does not need any quick actions or complex interactions. The inventory present in the game can be used to unlock the memories of Renee, the protagonist.

The game is quite gentle-paced and moderate and, therefore, allows the player to concentrate on the main storyline. The game is governed by a multi-choice system, which enables the player to choose between different endings. These endings depend upon the choices the player makes.

The PS4 version of the game features a variety of improvements. The visuals and display have been refurbished and the developers have included new elements in the story and gameplay.

The developers have made the right choice by releasing this game on the PS4 and Xbox platforms as well, as this move will only help the game in garnering more popularity.
