To mark the start of the filming of the yet-to-be-titled Han Solo Star Wars film, Lucasfilm shared a delightful photo of the cast in what looks like the Millennium Falcon. As filming officially began on Feb. 20 at Pinewood Studios in London, many are already waiting to see how this film will present the origin story of the galaxy's coolest pilot.

Lucasfilm showed some of the cast members as well as directors of the film together in one photo that they shared on the official Star Wars blog as well as in a tweet. Alden Ehrenreich, who will play the young Han Solo, is all smiles together with Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emilia Clarke, Joonas Suotamo in his Chewbacca costume, and Donald Glover, who will play Han's friend and companion, Lando Calrissian. Also on the photo are the movie's directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord.

A Han Solo Movie

Though little is still known about the plot, the film's story is expected to revolve around Han Solo's journeys before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope as well as their early encounters with Lando Calrissian. The film is written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan and will be joined by Academy Award nominee for Director of Photography Bradford Young and SFX Supervisor Dominic Tuohy to name a few.

"Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous," said directors Lord and Miller.

Upon its release in May 25, 2018, it will join the lineup of the much-awaited movies and sequels set for 2018 release such as Jurassic World 2 (June 22), Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 2 (Nov. 16), Avatar 2 (Dec. 21), and the long-awaited The Incredibles 2 (June 15).

Standalone 'Star Wars' Story

Just like last year's Rogue One, the yet-to-be-titled Han Solo film is set in times and locations that are not directly connected to the events of the original trilogy and subsequent trilogies thereafter. Naturally, fans are excited to see familiar characters in different faces, even though it is still unclear how the Han Solo movie may shed light on qualities of the characters we got to know and love in Star Wars.

Though the film is still far from being finished, fans need not despair because this year will still bring another Star Wars movie in the form of The Last Jedi, which is set to be released by the end of the year.
