As anticipation for Samsung's next generation flagship keeps building up, the purported Galaxy S8 Plus surfaced on Geekbench with the mighty Snapdragon 835 processor on board.

Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S7 series at the Mobile World Congress in 2016, but this year it has decided to hold off for a while longer and announce the new Galaxy S8 line at a later date. Nevertheless, the company used the MWC 2017 event to drop a Galaxy S8 teaser video and confirm that it will officially unveil the new flagship on March 29.

Samsung is expected to introduce a Galaxy S8 and a Galaxy S8 Plus at its event later this month, and the latter has now popped up in a benchmark.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus On Geekbench

A device with model number SM-G955U, believed to be none other than the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, dropped by Geekbench and revealed some of its specs and benchmarking results in the process.

This benchmark listing shows the Snapdragon-powered variant of the Galaxy S8 Plus, but keep in mind that the flagship will also come in an Exynos-powered model (based on market).

That said, the Galaxy S8 Plus spotted on Geekbench packs the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core processor under the hood and scored 1,929 points in the single-core test and 6,084 points in the multi-core one.

The benchmarking site notes that the Snapdragon 835 processor fueling this Galaxy S8 Plus variant is gunning at 1.9 GHz and comes with 4 GB of RAM, which seems to contradict earlier rumors of a Galaxy S8 series with 6 GB of RAM. However, the potential existence of a 4 GB version doesn't necessarily rule out a 6 GB variant - Samsung could be planning multiple configurations to suit different needs and budgets.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Release And Expectations

With Samsung's big event set for March 29, chances are that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will go on sale sometime in April. One flagship variant will pack the Snapdragon 830 processor, while the other will come with Samsung's own Exynos 8895 SoC. One the software front, the Galaxy S8 series will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat on board out of the box.

Both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to come with a host of powerful specs and features all around, and leaked photos showed a sleek design with slim bezels, a curved display, no physical home button, and a metal and glass construction. Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to feature the same design, albeit in different sizes - 5.8 and 6.2 inches, respectively.

In addition to the high-end specs and sleek design, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are also expected to stand out from the crowd thanks to an advanced AI assistant dubbed Bixby.
