Apple May Launch iPhone SE, New iPhone 7 Plus, And iPad Pro This Week
Rumors are rife that Apple is working hard on its next flagship dubbed the iPhone 8, iPhone X, or iPhone Edition. The company is expected to release the next-gen smartphone in the coming months, which would retail upwards of $1,000.
However, new reports indicate that Apple may launch other devices prior to the next big iPhone unveiling.
According to older reports, the Cupertino-based company was expected to launch three new upgraded products between March 20 and March 24. Now with the Apple Store staying closed on Tuesday, March 21, rumors that the new products from the company will be launched are gaining traction.
Apple Online Store Planned Outage
Apple's system status page reveals that the company has a maintenance scheduled for its website. A planned outage is slated for March 21 morning. This hints that the rumored 128 GB variant of the iPhone SE could be listed on the site post the maintenance.
"Apple Online Store - Upcoming Maintenance. Today, 3:00 AM - 8:30 AM. All users will be affected. The Apple Store will be updated and unavailable during this time," notes the page, citing the upcoming maintenance.
The maintenance will impact all users in this time window. Apple usually issues releases an announcements at 8:30 AM ET for its products, which has fueled speculations of the new devices' arrival.
Products Expected To Be Launched
Rumor has it, that the iPhone SE may also get upgraded and Apple is expected to unveil a 128 GB variant of the smartphone in March. The smartphone is currently available in 16 GB and 64 GB options. The current-gen iPhone SE debuted in March 2016 and, therefore, the rumored release timing makes sense.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will also supposedly get a makeover as reports hint that a red colored version of the flagship smartphones is on the cards.
Reports have also suggested that Apple may launch four iPad Pro tablets. These include a 10.5-inch variant with lesser bezels, a 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2, the iPad mini Pro and a 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 will likely house a 12-megapixel rear camera. It is likely that the product will also boast the True Tone display, which the 9.7-inch variant currently comes with. This display adjusts the screen brightness automatically, depending on the lighting in the surrounding environment.
The 10.5-inch version of the iPad Pro is expected to ditch the home button and, therefore, may have slimmer bezels. It is also rumored, that the device will come with a better display resolution.
Some reports, however, have indicated that the 10.5-inch version of the iPad Pro may have been delayed. This means that this variant may not be launched alongside the other rumored Apple tablets.
History Of Apple's March Events
Apple is known to make product announcements and revelations in March. Over the course of six years, the company has held March launch events four times.
In 2011 and 2012, the company introduced new iPad models in March. While in 2015, Apple announced the pricing and details of its smartwatch. The iPhone SE and the 9.7-inch iPad Pro were also announced at a March event in 2016.
