A leaked Target ad showing the upcoming promotions for the week of April 2-8 reveals exciting deals for the soon-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy S8 series.

Last year, Samsung unveiled its flagship smartphones at the Mobile World Congress in late February, but this year it decided to announce its new-generation Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus at a later event.

The big unveiling is now less than a week away, as Samsung will formally introduce the new Galaxy S8 flagship series at an Unpacked event on March 29. As always before major releases, leaks are starting to intensify and the latest one now shows what freebies Target has in store for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus preorders.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Target Deals

The leaked Target weekly newspaper ad for April 2 - 8 showed that the retailer will be taking preorders for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus during that week. No price was listed for the handsets, but the ads revealed that customers who preorder and activate a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus will get a free Samsung Gear VR with Controller (worth $129.99), as well as a $100 Target gift card. An update to the leak notes that the weekly ad was removed at Target's request, but the information is out there nonetheless.

The newspaper ad also featured an image of the Galaxy S8 with its slim bezels at the top and bottom of the display, sleek dual-curved edge screen and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. All of these design details fall in line with previous leaks and rumors.

To qualify for the Galaxy S8 preorder freebies from Target, interested customers will have to order the device through AT&T Next, Verizon device payment or Sprint's 24-month installment plan.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Release, Specs And Features

It remains to be seen how much the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will cost and when they will start shipping to customers, but more details should become available soon enough. We'll be keeping an eye on Samsung's March 29 Unpacked event in New York City and bring you the latest news as soon as Samsung makes it official.

For now, Samsung already unveiled its new artificial intelligence-powered assistant called Bixby, which will fuel a "fundamentally different" interface and experience with the Galaxy S8 series. The new AI assistant has a number of neat tricks up its sleeve and should significantly boost the appeal of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, but it could also boost the price.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to launch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 processor (depending on region), a QHD Super AMOLED display, a 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front shooter, an iris scanner, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, no physical home button, a dedicated Bixby button on the right side, USB Type-C, and Android Nougat on board out of the box.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are shaping up as two of the most powerful smartphones of 2017 and anticipation is building up ahead of the big release. With the official debut set for next week, the two handsets should go on sale sometime in April.
