Microsoft previously teased that there will be "big news" shared on June 11 at E3 2017, with many gamers expecting that Project Scorpio, the next iteration of the company's Xbox gaming console, will be unveiled at the event.

Xbox head Phil Spencer, however, recently said that Microsoft will focus on games at the upcoming E3.

Reports by Windows Central claim that this is because the actual unveiling of the Xbox Project Scorpio will happen in advance of E3, and perhaps as soon as next week.

'Forza Motorsport 7,' 'Red Dead Redemption 2' Featured On Xbox Project Scorpio

The initial report by Windows Central claimed that it was able to obtain a partial list of the planned 4K games that will be coming to the Xbox Project Scorpio, with Forza Motorsport 7 being described as the headline title for the upcoming video game console. The latest installment in the racing franchise will be shown in True 4K resolution, with reliable sources claiming that Forza Motorsport 7 "looks utterly stunning."

The list of games that Windows Central obtained comes from Microsoft's marketing materials for the Xbox Project Scorpio. In addition to Forza Motorsport 7, other first-party games include State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3.

The list also mentions several third-party titles, including the expected unnamed Call of Duty title, FIFA, and Madden. There is also Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is not a surprise, as representatives for DICE, the developer of the first Battlefront, were a part of the Xbox Project Scorpio trailer at last year's E3. Red Dead Redemption 2, meanwhile, was not expected.

Windows Central claims that there will a "sizeable library of 4K games" that will be available for the Xbox Project Scorpio as soon as it launches because of the console's so-called "change resilience" features. Titles with dynamic 900p to 1080p resolution scaling for the Xbox One can scale up to 4K on the Xbox Project Scorpio, which will increase the number of playable titles for the console once it is launched in this year's holiday season.

Xbox Project Scorpio To Be Unveiled Next Week?

A follow-up report by Windows Central on the Xbox Project Scorpio then claimed that gamers might not have to wait until E3 2017 to know about the details of the upcoming video game console, as a "major gaming outlet" was said to have recently made a visit to Microsoft to inspect the internals of the Xbox Project Scorpio in advance of a planned exclusive report.

The specifications of the video game console, according to Windows Central, could be revealed as soon as next week. The rumored date of the reveal is April 6, but that is not yet a sure thing.

The reveal of the Xbox Project Scorpio specifications will confirm whether the console will be using the latest Ryzen CPU technology of AMD. It is expected that the video game console will be capable of running at 6 teraflops, which will make it much more powerful than Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro, which only runs at 4.2 teraflops.

Windows Central reiterated that its report is not an April Fool's prank, so gamers looking forward to the Xbox Project Scorpio might not have to wait too long to find out what the video game console is all about.
