Samsung Galaxy S8+ With 6 GB RAM And 128 GB Storage Could Sell For $1000
Rumors of Samsung Galaxy S8+ coming with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB internal storage are not new. It has also been rumored that Samsung has no plans of releasing this variant in other parts of the world.
Now a new report indirectly reaffirms older assertions that the special edition of Galaxy S8+ would be made available only to Chinese consumers, and reveals the supposed pricing of the handset.
Steep Pricing For Galaxy S8+ Special Edition Phone?
According to a report from publication ET News, the special edition Galaxy S8+, with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB onboard storage, may cost KRW 1,155,000, which is roughly $1,030. The report also reveals that the special edition of the Samsung flagship will be made available only in Midnight Black.
For the unfamiliar, the 64 GB Galaxy S8+ with 4 GB of RAM is available in three different hues: Midnight Black, Arctic Silver, and Orchid Gray.
The report also states that consumers who preorder the 128 GB Galaxy S8+ handset in China would get a DeX dock system worth KRW 160,00 (roughly $140) free.
Samsung DeX basically lets users to convert their Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ to a desktop computer, as well as attach peripherals to enable a PC-like experience.
Why Launch A Special Edition GalaxyS8+ In The Chinese Market?
The launch of a special edition Galaxy S8+ — with enhanced RAM and higher storage — in the Chinese market is said to be a well-thought-out business strategy from Samsung. In a bid to capture the Chinese smartphone market from potential competitors like Vivo, Samsung is likely upgrading the features of its 2017 flagship to fuel maximum sales.
China-based OEM Vivo was the first to come up with a smartphone (the Vivo Xplay5) in 2016, which offered users 6 GB of RAM. In face of extreme competition, Samsung is upping the ante and leaving no stone unturned to ensure fantastic sales for the Galaxy S8+.
Post the debacle of the Galaxy Note 7, it is imperative that Samsung generate great revenue to compensate for the massive losses it encountered because of the phablet in 2016.
Galaxy S8+: Other Specs To Remain The Same?
Apart from the RAM and onboard storage, other specifications of Galaxy S8+ are expected to remain unchanged. While the U.S. variant of the Galaxy S8+ is equipped with a Snapdragon 835 processor, the China version of the smartphone will house the Exynos 8895 chipset.
Like the 64 GB model of the galaxy S8+, the 128 GB variant will likely offer the same expandable memory capacity i.e. up to 256 GB.
