Leaks pertaining to the impending iPhone X or iPhone 8, the 10th anniversary edition of the smartphone, have been surfacing frequently. Previous rumors hinted that the iPhone 8 will launch alongside the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, but a new report refutes this assertion.

Anticipation among fans has been particularly high with regard to what Apple will bring to the table with the upcoming iPhones, which are expected to launch in September.

However, a new report suggests that the iPhone 8's release may be delayed by a month or two.

iPhone 8 Delayed?

DigiTimes acquired a report from Chinese Economic Daily News, which reveals that Apple may postpone the release date of its iPhone 8 to October or November 2017.

"Technical issues related to the lamination process of curved OLED panels, and the adoption of a 3D sensing system may cause the delay of the new iPhone devices," notes the report.

Speculations are rife that the iPhone 8 will bypass the LCD screen in favor of an edge-to-edge OLED display. However, Apple seems to be facing some issues integrating this new technology, which is being given as the primary reason behind the supposed delay.

According to the report, the arrival of the iPhone 8 will also be delayed because of the 3D sensor, which is rumored to be housed in the front-facing camera of the smartphone.

Industry sources believe that the delay is an indication that Apple would perhaps only release the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus in September. The company may not even mention the iPhone 8 during the event.

Another school of thought is that Apple may unveil the iPhone 8 in September, alongside the other two handsets, but may not immediately ship the device to retailers.

iPhone 8 To Boast Major Changes?

Apart from an overhauled display, the iPhone 8's design is also expected to be vastly different from previous iterations. In a departure from the past, Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 8 without a physical home button. This is reportedly being done in an effort to reduce bezel space considerably.

The iPhone 8 may also support wireless charging, as well as boast a glass and stainless steel design. It is also rumored that the device will have a True Tone display like the iPad Pro.

The iPhone 8 is also expected to come with an Iris scanner, like the Samsung Galaxy S8, as well as a facial recognition feature. The addition of these security features would likely find favor with consumers.
