Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) Leaked Images Give A Glimpse Of The Mid-Range Android Smartphone
Images of the unannounced Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) smartphone have surfaced online. This is not the first time details of the Galaxy J5 (2016) model's successor have leaked.
In February, the 2017 variant of the Galaxy J5 already received Wi-Fi certification. In March, the smartphone was spotted on benchmarking website GFXBench.
Rumors were rife that Samsung would debut the Galaxy J5 (2017) at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in February as the device had received its Wi-Fi and FCC certifications prior to the event. However, the South Korean OEM did not unveil the smartphone at the event.
The images of the Galaxy J5 (2017) that have leaked online are courtesy publication Slash Leaks and offer a peek into the impending handset. The authenticity of the images remains circumspect.
Galaxy J5 (2017) Leaked Images: What Do They Reveal?
The leaked images do not disclose much about the specs of the Galaxy J5 (2017), but show the smartphone's interiors and the back panel. The renders are of a matte black variant of the smartphone and one can espy the Samsung logo on the rear panel. The logo is placed below the rear-facing camera.
Based on the leaked renders, the position of the primary camera on the 2017 variant of the Galaxy J5 (2017) has changed vis-à-vis the Galaxy J5 (2016). The leaked images show that camera and LED flash on the center on the rear panel in a vertical alignment.
The Galaxy J5 (2016) has the rear camera positioned at the center of the back panel with the LED flash to its right and the speaker on the left.
The leaked images of the front panel of the Galaxy J5 (2017), which shows off the innards of the device, points to a dedicated space for a home button. One can also see the SIM card slot and the selfie camera slot.
The volume buttons can be espied on the left of the handset and the power on/off button on the right, again similar to Galaxy J5 (2016).
Galaxy J5 2017: Rumored Specs
The GFXBench listing of the smartphone revealed that the device may sport a 4.8-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels.
The handset may house a quad-core Exynos 7870 processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. Leaks have also pointed to an ARM Mali-T830 GPU.
The Galaxy J5 (2017) may house 16 GB of onboard memory. Rumors suggest that the upcoming mid-range smartphone may come equipped with a 12-megapixel primary camera. The smartphone may also come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow or Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
