Samsung Galaxy S7 And Galaxy S7 Edge On US Cellular Start Getting Android 7.0 Nougat Update
Network operator US Cellular is finally rolling out the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update for its variant of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
The carrier began pushing out the software update on April 21 in the United States. The OTA update is being rolled out in phases and will soon make its way to users of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
US Cellular, when compared to other carriers like Verizon Wireless, is lagging behind by a month in rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
US Cellular Nougat Update For Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge
According to SamMobile, the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge weighs 1512.39 MB.
The US Cellular variants of Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge carry the model numbers SM-G930R4 and SM-G935R4, respectively. The carrier is providing its users with two options, using which they can install the update in their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. These options are detailed below.
Android Nougat Update: Installation Option 1
Under the first option, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge users will be able to upgrade the operating system in their smartphones without having to use the USB cable. One can follow the steps below to successfully upgrade their device to Android 7.0 Nougat,
Step 1: Go to the "Settings" menu and choose "About Device."
Step 2: From the "About Device" option select "Software Update."
Step 3: Click on OK and follow the directions that appear on the device's screen.
Android Nougat Update: Installation Option 2
Those unable to get the Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update on their phone can install it via Samsung Kies with the help of an USB cable and a laptop or PC. The steps mentioned below will help one install the update successfully. However, one must remember to download Samsung Kies on their PC before going about this process.
Step 1: Connect the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge to the computer or laptop with the help of a USB cable.
Step 2: Start the Samsung Kies app on the computer or laptop. If a new firmware update is available, the information of the same will be reflected on the Basic information tab.
Step 3: Select the new update from the Basic information tab to start the upgrade. Once the download starts, the backup process of the data on the smartphone will also commence.
Things To Remember
US Cellular's support page clearly states that before starting the process, the smartphone must be equipped with a Google account and should be linked to a strong Wi-Fi connection for smooth download of the file. Once the Android 7.0 Nougat update is installed, the Galaxy S7 will be running on build G930R4TYU4BQC5, whereas the Galaxy S7 edge will be on build G935R4TYU4BQC5.
