Beanbean Kingdom is still a location 3DS owners could possibly venture into, or at least that's what a new rumor suggests. A recent datamine of the Nintendo 3DS eShop hints that the RPG Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga could be released for the handheld soon.

Datamine Hints At Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Rerelease

The game, a Game Boy Advance title released in 2003, was developed by AlphaDream. It was the first title in the Mario & Luigi RPG series and was later rereleased on the Wii U Virtual Console in 2014.

The datamine is the crafty handiwork of SciresM, infamous for leaking Pokémon datamines, who's also responsible for leaking Ever Oasis details and now the purported rerelease of the hit 2003 RPG title.

The unannounced game is currently listed as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX, as per SciresM's tweet. He also found the game's icon, alongside Ever Oasis. He also discovered that the game's file size could be a little under 550 MB.

It's unclear just what Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX is exactly. Will it be a remake? A remastered version? A sequel? That remains to be determined. But the "DX" suffix attached at the end of the game's title suggests that it won't be a simple port of the Game Boy Advance entry.

Beyond the name, icon, and an unintelligible sequence of numbers, SciresM doesn't have any more details, so feel free to speculate on what this newly discovered title could allude to. One thing's for sure, though: the 3DS is indeed not over yet.

Reggie Fils-Aimé recently said that support for the 3DS will continue until 2018 and that besides previously announced games set to hit the console, Nintendo is poised to announce more games at this year's E3. Perhaps Nintendo could unveil this Mario RPG reboot during E3, which would be the perfect time to do so.

Right now everything is a bit on the speculative side, so expect due coverage when we find out more.

Nintendo's E3 2017 Plans

It appears Nintendo is gearing up for a big E3 this year. While the company will stick to its Nintendo Direct format and not join this year's big conferences and festivities, expect nothing more than a barrage of games. The Switch, in particular, stands to get ample attention. After all, there's a long haul ahead until Super Mario Odyssey is released in the holidays, so Nintendo better has some games to keep Switch owners happy throughout 2017.

Nintendo has yet to confirm the existence of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga DX, and everything else for that matter. It's been pretty tight-lipped about potential unveilings and announcements regarding its E3 presentation, but expect Switch and 3DS titles aplenty.

It's safe to say that Nintendo has recently been focused on remakes and reboots, and while that's good news for fans of its classic and iconic games, it's safe to say that players would more than welcome brand-new stuff from the company.
