The Xbox 360 version of the game, developed by 4J Studios, was released in May 2012 and has already achieved a milestone of over 10 million copies sold. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition was originally very similar in content to older PC versions; however, the game is being gradually updated to bring it closer to the current PC version.

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2013 in June this year, Microsoft also showed off a trailor of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, which will feature larger worlds, expanded multiplayer features and enhancements powered by the Xbox One. However, the game is yet to release on the latest Xbox One.

At Gamescom 2013, Sony also announced that the PS4 version of the game will release alongside the latest gaming console itself; however, the game has been delayed and may launch in 2014.
