Huawei has two new midrangers called the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus, sporting attractive specs especially in the camera department.

Both the Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus come with dual rear cameras and 20-megapixel front shooters, ready to cater to selfie fans. The rest of the specifications are not all that impressive, but the handsets do come with Android 7.0 Nougat on board out of the box.

The Huawei Nova and Nova Plus from last year didn't quite pack powerful cameras, but the new generation definitely makes up for it. Both the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus have virtually identical specs, but the latter is bigger, packs more storage and a larger battery. Here's what each of them has to offer.

Huawei Nova 2 Specs And Features

The new Huawei Nova 2 features a 5-inch LTPS 2.5D display with a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, an octa-core Kirin 659 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of native storage space and microSD support for up to 128 GB of additional storage.

As previously mentioned, the highlight is in the camera department as the Huawei Nova 2 sports a dual rear camera setup comprising of a 12-megapixel and an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, and an impressive 20-megapixel front camera.

The smartphone further comes with dual SIM support, where one slot also serves as a microSD slot, a fingerprint scanner, a 2,950 mAh battery, and Android 7.0 Nougat with Huawei's own EMUI 5.1 on top. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, and GPS/ GLONASS.

Huawei Nova 2 Plus Specs And Features

The larger Huawei Nova 2 Plus, meanwhile, sports a 5.5-inch full HD display, 128 GB of storage, and a 3,340 mAh battery. The rest of the specifications, including the processor, RAM, cameras and everything else are identical to those of the Nova 2.

The Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus are obviously not designed to compete at the high-end segment of the smartphone market, but their camera prowess is impressive and they come with affordable price tags. The smartphones may seem particularly appealing to selfie lovers, as the 20-megapixel front shooters should be able to capture high-quality selfies.

Pricing And Availability

Both smartphones will come in several color options, such as black, gold, rose gold, blue, and green. The Nova 2 costs 2,499 yuan (roughly $365), while the Nova 2 Plus goes up to 2,899 (about $423).

Huawei is currently taking preorders for the two smartphones in China, where they're slated to go on sale on June 16. The company has yet to release additional details regarding wider availability, so there's no information at this point as to when or if the Huawei Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus will make it to the United States or other markets.

Huawei should offer more information after the handsets hit the stores in China, and we'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more. Would you be tempted to buy one of these new Huawei midrangers? Let us know in the comments section below.
