Mars Chocolate issued a voluntary recall of some of its products over fears of salmonella contamination. The chocolate maker is recalling some of its products such as the Galaxy Milk, Galaxy Minstrels, Galaxy Counters, and Maltesers Teasers due to "potential presence of salmonella."

The voluntary recall was issued for specific Mars chocolates only in Ireland and the UK. The Mars Chocolate recall started after the presence of salmonella was suspected in the chocolates' ingredients.

"We are working closely with the relevant food safety authorities and our customers to ensure that the affected products are no longer available for purchase," a Mars Chocolate spokesperson shared.

Mars Chocolate Recalls Products Over Salmonella Contamination Fears

The Mars Chocolate spokesperson also revealed that the presence of salmonella was detected when the company was conducting routine testing on its products. The salmonella was found in ingredients, which are used to make the chocolates.

The salmonella contaminated chocolates were produced at Mars' Slough factory and the recall is merely a precautionary measure.

The Food Standards Agency advised people against consuming the specified products if they have purchased them and to contact the Mars' Consumer Care team to return the same and take the reimbursement. Mars chocolate consumers in the UK can contact the customer care team by calling on 08009520084. Irish consumers can call on 1890812315 for return and reimbursement.

Mars Chocolate revealed that no more than 3,000 salmonella contaminated chocolates could have been sold to consumers in both Ireland and UK. The company requested all food retailers in Ireland and the UK to remove the affected Mars chocolates.

Tesco told BBC that to avoid customer confusion, the management decided that it would not sell any of the affected products irrespective of the best before date.
