Amazon had announced that the third annual Prime Day will be on July 11. This year the sale will expand into several new territories.
Prime Day is a day of deals exclusively for members of Amazon's Prime program, which will feature hundreds of thousands of deals.
While this is certainly a good thing for consumers, it is also a good thing for Amazon. The first Prime Day led to a substantial increase in Prime membership. During the third quarter of 2015, Amazon saw a 7 percent increase in Prime subscribers and a quarter of those said they enrolled to take advantage of the deals offered during Prime Day.
Despite the increased Prime membership, the first Prime Day was far from perfect. Many users found the deals to be lacking, but Amazon improved the deals in 2016. Overall, users appeared happier with the second Prime Day than the first and this one looks like it might be even better.
More Prime Day Deals Than Ever
Traditionally Prime Day has been, well, one day, but this year Amazon is expanding it by six hours to squeeze in more time for deals. Speaking of time for deals, users will need to act fast to get the best prices, because Amazon will reportedly offer new deals as often as every five minutes and will feature hundreds of thousands of deals this year.
"Our members love Prime Day and we have been thrilled by the response over the last two years. It is inspiring us to make it even better this year for Prime members," said Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon Prime. "Every part of our business is working to deliver more deals for a record number of shoppers. This year's Prime Day is too big for 24 hours — so we're giving Prime members 30 hours to shop!"
In addition to lasting longer and featuring more deals, this year's Prime Day has expanded to include 13 countries.
One of the features being offered during this year's Prime Day is personalized deals, which, like Amazon's normal recommendations, will cater deals to shopper's interests. This year will also allow users to monitor products and deals for alerts so they don't miss a big sale on something they have their eye on.
