If initial reports are true, then the Microsoft Xbox One has managed to dominate Black Friday sales and could go on to do the same on Cyber Monday if consumer interest is still strong.

A company that goes by the name InfoScout, has managed to gather data on Black Friday sales regarding the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and all the other available video game consoles on the market to determine which one came out on top.

If the data of this company is anything to go by, then Microsoft is doing a great job with the marketing of the Xbox One. According to the data we've seen, the Xbox One has gone on to grab 53 percent of all the sales on Black Friday. That's a huge achievement if it turns out to be legitimate.

The Sony PlayStation lagged behind with just 31 percent, while the Nintendo Wii U had to settle for 6 percent. In fact, the Xbox 360 performed better than the Wii U with 9 percent shares, putting the Xbox line of consoles at a combined 62 percent market share on Black Friday.

What caused the spike in Xbox One sales?

Both Sony and Microsoft took on different strategies to dominate Black Friday, but Microsoft made the most significant change. The company dropped the price of the Xbox One to $329.99 and made available several bundles. Sony, on the other hand, could only manage to announce a few bundles, and it is clear this move was not enough.

The big question right now is whether or not the Xbox One can continue on this path of success well into 2015. Microsoft would have to make the $329 price-tag permanent to keep this going, because at $399.99, the PlayStation 4 is the better value for folks who are mainly interested in playing video games.

In the current situation Sony is in, the company is not capable of slashing the price of the PlayStation 4 just yet, and Microsoft needs to take advantage of Sony's weakness before it is too late.

From the last released numbers from VGChartz, the PlayStation 4 is ahead with 15 million sold to consumers while the Xbox One is lagging behind with just 8 million.
