It appears that the Assassin's Creed and Final Fantasy universes are headed for another crossover with the next Assassin's Creed: Origins update.

Ubisoft revealed what awaits players with the Assassin's Creed: Origins December update, including a new difficulty and new mode, while teasing the pending arrival of a feathered friend to the franchise.

'Assassin's Creed: Origins' December Update Contents

The first thing that Assassin's Creed: Origins players can look forward to in the game's upcoming December update is the new Nightmare difficulty level. Players who are brave enough to try out Nightmare mode will face enemies who are more resilient to damage and are more dangerous.

The next Assassin's Creed: Origins update will also add enemy scaling, a popular request among players. When the option is enabled, lower level enemies will be strengthened as players reach higher levels.

With these two changes, hardcore players who found Assassin's Creed: Origins too easy will be able to enjoy new challenges in the game. Players will also be able to fight the last of the three gods, Sekhmet, in December.

The Assassin's Creed: Origins update will also introduce two new quests. The first quest is a Horde mode named Here Comes A New Challenger, where players will fight in the Cyrene Arena against a never-ending wave of opponents. The recommended level for players to participate in the quest is level 32 or higher.

Ubisoft, meanwhile, did not provide any specific details on the second quest, but Final Fantasy fans should know what the teaser is all about.

'Assassin's Creed: Origins' And 'Final Fantasy XV' Crossover: Chocobos!

The title and details of the second quest in the Assassin's Creed: Origins update for December was not revealed, only showing a feather-filled GIF.

Final Fantasy fans will immediately know that the teaser is hinting at the arrival of chocobos to Assassin's Creed: Origins.

In August, an unlikely crossover was announced with the free Assassin's Festival DLC for Final Fantasy XV. The DLC, which will run until Jan. 31, 2018, allows players to dress up Noctis and the squad as the assassins of Assassin's Creed.

It appears that it is the turn of the world of Final Fantasy XV to invade Assassin's Creed: Origins. It is unclear if chocobos will play a part in the upcoming quest, or if they will be the reward for completing them. In any case, players will need to get ready to explore ancient Egypt while riding the giant birds.

Assassin's Creed: Origins is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
