Some Xbox One players were able to get early access to the new Assassin's Creed: Origins expansion, The Hidden Ones. Ubisoft accidentally made the new content available after the game received a patch overnight.

The Hidden Ones is supposed to officially come out on Jan. 23. Ubisoft has already made it unavailable for download until the release date.

The Hidden Ones

On Wednesday, Jan. 17, players who already purchased The Hidden Ones expansion had the opportunity to download it. Ubisoft says the game was not supposed to be available a week before its release.

"Earlier today, The Hidden Ones DLC was unintentionally made available early for some Xbox One players. We have removed the DLC from the game store, however players who already downloaded the DLC are still able to play it," said Ubisoft in a statement. Ubisoft goes on to refer to the players that were able to download the DLC before everyone else, "The Lucky Ones."

The positive news for those who already managed to get their hands on The Hidden Ones is that Ubisoft will not revoke access for the mistake. That will, however, make it hard for anyone who didn't to avoid spoilers.

The Hidden Ones is the first of two Assassin's Creed: Origins DLC that are scheduled to come out.

Expansion Details

The Hidden Ones will be a major expansion for Assassin's Creed: Origins. In the expansion, the new missions will take place four years after Origin's story. It also adds a new region in the game, the Sinai.

Along with the new story missions, the level cap will be raised to 45, and new weapons, outfits, and mounts will be added. All progress from the base game will be carried on over to the DLC. Players will also still be playing as Bayek. The Hidden Ones will cost $9.99.

When Ubisoft announced the details of The Hidden Ones, it also gave some details about the second DLC for the game. It will be titled The Curse of the Pharaohs, and will introduce Thebes and the Valley of the Kings. The Curse of the Pharaohs will be released on March 6 and will cost $20.

In between both expansions, Ubisoft will release a new mode called Discovery Tour — which they have described as a "combat-free living museum." It allows players to tour the areas of ancient Egypt without having to deal with combat and quests in the game.
