The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 is the star of a new leak, this time showing the DeX Pad. The leaked image clearly shows that the smartphone will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Galaxy S9 is among the most hotly-anticipated smartphones of this year and it's expected to pack top specs, including the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.

Recent flagships such as the iPhone X, the Google Pixel 2, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and others, have ditched the headphone jack and it seems that the trend is gaining ground. The lack of a headphone jack sparked mixed reactions as it forces consumers to rely on wireless headphones rather than regular ones.

Retaining The 3.5mm Headphone Jack

It seemed uncertain whether the Galaxy S9 would sport a headphone jack or not, but the latest leak seems to bolster claims that it will. This will likely be good news for Samsung fans as USB Type-C earphones or Bluetooth ones are not exactly cheap.

The latest leak now comes from trusted tipster Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, who has proved to be accurate countless times so far. Blass shared a render of the new Samsung DeX Pad, and the smartphone placed in this dock has a headphone jack.

New Samsung DeX Pad For The Galaxy S9

Samsung first introduced its DeX dock last year with the Galaxy S8. The $149 accessory aims to make it easier for users to connect their smartphone to a monitor, enabling the handset to serve as a mini PC. The DeX Pad further comes with extra USB ports, an HDMI port, and an USB Type-C port for charging.

The new Samsung DeX Pad for the Galaxy S9 will reportedly enable users to place the phone flat and use the dock as a PC keyboard or touchpad. Moreover, the upgraded dock is expected to work with last year's Galaxy S8 as well.

The leaked images show the Galaxy S9's headphone jack, along with a dedicated Bixby button on the side, just below the volume rocker. The Bixby button has received its fair share of criticism so far, but Samsung said it will continue to improve the experience.

Samsung is expected to unveil both the Galaxy S9 and the new DeX Pad at a Samsung Unpacked event scheduled for Feb. 25. The new-generation smartphones and accessories should go on sale sometime in March. Until Samsung makes a formal announcement, however, it's best to take all rumors and leaks with a grain of salt.
