Overwatch, still in the middle of its Year of the Dog celebrations, held the first-ever Puppy Rumble, which was an adorable real-life version of the game's Capture the Flag mode but with adoptable dogs.

The Overwatch League is currently on break after the London Spitfire was crowned as Stage 1 champions. Watching the Puppy Rumble, and possibly supporting its advocacy, is a great way to spend time while waiting for matches to resume.

Watch And Support The 'Overwatch' Puppy Rumble

The Overwatch Puppy Rumble is a real-life Capture the Flag with dogs dressed in Overwatch costumes. On the official Puppy Rumble website, all the participating dogs are displayed and are up for adoption or sponsorship.

The official Overwatch account released a trailer for the Puppy Rumble, showing dogs being fitted with costumes based on the massively popular multiplayer shooter's heroes. It was then unclear what exactly the event will be though, until the stream for the Puppy Rumble went live on Twitch.

The inaugural Puppy Rumble turned out to be a "friendly capture-the-flag faceoff," featuring dogs adoptable through Petfinder, partners including Wags & Walks, Austin Pets Alive, and Pet Atlanta, or local animal adoption agencies.

Thankfully, a significant percentage of the dogs on the Puppy Rumble website have already been marked as adopted. Lulu, an 8-week-old Chihuahua-Terrier mix dressed as Symmetra that stole the show, is one of the dogs that have been taken in by a family. Hopefully all the inaugural Overwatch Puppy Rumble dogs will find loving homes.

The 'Overwatch' Year Of The Dog Event And Overwatch League

The Overwatch Year of the Dog event, which celebrates the Lunar New Year, was launched on Feb. 8.

The event introduced Ayutthaya, a new map based on Thailand that is exclusive for Capture the Flag. The game mode also received some changes, including a Sudden Death mechanic for tied matches when time runs out, instant flag pickups, and additions to the list of abilities that will cause the flag to drop.

The current Overwatch event also features six legendary skins, namely Baihu for Genji, Qinglong for Pharah, Black Lily for Widowmaker, Xuanwu for Zarya, Zhuque for Mercy, and Magistrate for McCree.

The Overwatch Year of the Dog event will run until March 5.

The Overwatch League, meanwhile, will return to action on Feb. 21. The London Spitfire took home $100,000 and bragging rights for winning stage one, but there is still a long road ahead before the first ever Overwatch League champions are crowned.
