One of the hallmarks of outstanding post-launch support is the frequency of updates a game receives, and Epic Games continues to do so with Fortnite.

The open-world survival shooter recently celebrated Valentine's Day with a new patch that introduced a load of new stuff. Players got a new crossbow weapon, a cupid statue skin, a teddy bear costume, and more. A week prior to that also saw the inclusion of its Winter Olympics-themed skins among other things as the developers shower the game with love.

Now, in its upcoming version 3.0.0 patch, the title will reportedly receive an update to its structure construction system such as auto change materials, turbo building, and more.

Heading Into Its Third Season

Based on the reports from sources, the update number 3.0.0 noticeably implies the beginning of the third season. Fortnite and its Battle Royale game mode have been previously labeled as a copycat of Bluehole Studio Inc.'s highly-successful PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). The latter does use Epic Games' Unreal Engine.

However, some of the latest news reveals that Fortnite has broken several milestones when it comes to the number of active players. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the game studio to make sure that its players have something to look forward to on a regular basis.

Changes Detailed By The Developers

"We're always hammering away at building and working through ways to improve feel," states Epic Games. "Our new features (in v3.0.0) allow you to both be in the heat of battle and still craft that clutch set of stairs!" the developer added.

Looking at the detailed changes included in the upcoming update for Fortnite, it seems that the main focus will be the construction mechanics featured by the shooter.

"Turbo Building" will technically let players paint structures with primary fire button held down. The developer claims its usefulness is intended to improve defensive construction while players are on the move.

Some of the environmental elements such as rocks, trees, and vehicles can hinder a structure's build process. The upcoming update will supposedly allow players to clip through these objects as long as the terrain or foundation can support it.

Other Enhancements

To supplement "Turbo Building," Fortnite version 3.0.0 will feature "Auto Change Materials," which makes the process even faster. Once a particular material runs out, the game will automatically switch over to the next one available. Altogether, it should make the experience more seamless.

Furthermore, the development team claims that it enhanced the game's network code to make changing building pieces feel quicker. For now, this will only be available for the Battle Royale game mode but should be added to Save the World shortly. All of the new options can be toggled directly from the Game options menu.
