The Newsroom series finale came in a tidy package that tied up all loose ends even though Season 3 had a shortened run.

Spoiler alert for those who have not yet seen the series finale - although a funeral featured prominently in the episode, the overall tone was optimistic, even happy, with all the anchors pairing off and moving on nicely. Although the series was at time serious, it capped off its run with an almost chipper tone.

Although many felt the series left much to be desired with the story line and the way it attempted to retell old news in a new way was not always successful, all agree that the driving force behind that show was in the characters.

All, except for one character, Charlie Skinner (Sam Waterson), whose funeral they all attended, were able to get their happily ever afters in the series finale.

Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels), found out he was going to be a dad, and suddenly became all fatherly throughout the last episode. His new wife, Mackenzie (Emily Mortimer), told him the good news in the middle of their wedding ceremony.

After three seasons of tension and wondering will-they-or-won't-they, Jim Harper (John Gallagher, Jr.) finally professed his love for Maggie Jordan (Alison Pill). And although their new assignments will bring them apart, he promises to keep up a long-distance relationship with her.

Sloan Sabbith (Olivia Munn) and Don Keefer (Thomas Sadoski), come to terms with Charlie's death after feeling it was they who caused his heart attack. Don gives Sloan Charlie's old tie, which was given to him by Charlie's wife after he apologized to her.

All in all, for The Newsroom team, life goes on, and the News never sleeps as well. The closing scene of the final episode showed Will, continuing News Night, saying "Good evening."
