Now that Ubisoft's Far Cry 5 is finally out, gamers can finally give their answer. It seems players believe Boomer is a very good boy.

For those who have played through the open-world shooter's single-player campaign, they might have encountered dogs throughout the game. Other recently released games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild did not even allow players to pet animals, while the developer's own Assassin's Creed: Origins was supposedly criticized for its limited cat-petting mechanic. In the meantime, the fifth installment in the main series apparently delivers what players always wanted or never knew they wanted.

Animals In Abundance

Just like its predecessors, the latest entry of the open-world FPS franchise showcases a dynamic game world. This features gameplay elements that are intended to give it a little hint of realism, wherein NPCs, enemies, and the local wildlife interact in several ways albeit sometimes it might be amusing for the player.

Naturally aggressive creatures such as wolves, black bears, mountain lions, moose, badgers, wolverines, and grizzly bears, just to name a few, often attack the player, NPCs, enemies, and other animals as well. Special mention goes to the bald eagle, which, in true Far Cry 4 fashion, was included by developers just to ruin the player's day for no particular reason. In fact, it will always attack without provocation or warning.

Nonetheless, there are creatures included that are more passive such as farm animals and man's best friend, dogs.

Who's A Good Boy?

To celebrate the launch of Far Cry 5, Ubisoft apparently opted to have some lighthearted fun when it hosted an official support page, which asked visitors "Is Boomer a good boy?" The answer follows shortly as the game studio obviously confirms that the canine companion "is a very good boy."

Throughout the game, players can encounter dogs in different areas. The protagonist can approach some of them and pet them, which is considered by some as one of the title's great features. Meanwhile, Boomer is a bit different since he is considered as one of the specialists that players can recruit during their playthrough.

The dog is quite useful since it can tag enemies nearby, which is a boon for those who prefer a stealth approach. There are occasions wherein he will bring back weapons from enemy units that he took down.

A Useful And Immortal Companion

Far Cry 5 players who are worried about Boomer's safety during gameplay should be glad to know that Ubisoft likewise loves him. In fact, they included a gameplay mechanic that allows players to heal their canine partner with a little affection.

With just a little pet and scratch, Boomer will back in shape to take down cultists and save the day, which is why the developer considers him as "a very good boy" indeed.
