'God Of War' Soundtrack Now On Spotify

Moreover, Sony revealed that the full soundtrack for the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive title is now live on Spotify as well as PlayStation Music. The game's music composer, Bear McCreary, also recalled his experience while working on the video game's score and what it meant.

He said that when Santa Monico Studio had approached him to compose the score for a new God of War game, he was spellbound because he's such a big fan of the franchise.

As he started working with Barlog, he realized that the game demands completely new music that is different from that of the previous installments in the action-adventure series. He added that he found himself venturing into a new "musical territory."

"I took my memories of that classic God of War soundtrack - the deep choirs, pounding drums, and shrieking brass - and reinvented them for a Norse age. I wrote new themes, and introduced to the music exotic instrumentation and languages from various Northern European folk traditions," he said.

McCreary also said that his favorite from the 21-track album would be "Memories of Mother" because it was the first track he composed for the game. The theme was originally meant for Kratos but as the game went ahead with production, McCreary and the team found that the score was not a good fit for "Ghost of Sparta" because of its sad and emotional tone so the team decided to use it for Atreus's mother instead.

God of War is slated to arrive on April 20. Listen to the full album below.
