Ever had an awesome dream of Peter Jackson directing a Marvel film? Such a dream might forever stay just that, because the man himself stated that he has no interest in creating superhero movies, especially those of Marvel.

Just recently, Jackson's final installment in The Hobbit trilogy, The Battle of the Five Armies, launched into theaters and is already trending toward the $100 million mark in the United States. The film, while not the best Jackson has ever done, is considered by some as the best in The Hobbit series.

During an interview with Movie Fone, Peter Jackson gave thoughts to the current trend in Hollywood. As expected, he doesn't like it that much, claiming he's no fan of the blockbuster route the industry is taking.

Ironically, he directed six films that took place in the world of Middle-earth, so forgive us for not taking what he has to say about blockbuster films too seriously.

"I don't really like the Hollywood blockbuster bandwagon that exists right now," Jackson said. "The industry and the advent of all the technology, has kind of lost its way. It's become very franchise driven and superhero driven. I've never read a comic book in my life so I'm immediately at a disadvantage and I have no interest in that. So now, it's time for us to step back. We're heading towards something of that scale."

Now, his reasoning behind not wanting to direct Marvel films or any superhero movie makes more sense. He stated that he had never read a comic in his entire life, which makes him feel as if he would be a hindrance more than anything else.

Not every director, no matter how good they are, is fit for helming a comic-book movie. Furthermore, Peter Jackson's tone is more serious when compared with the lightheartedness of Marvel movies. We see him as a better fit for DC, but since he has no interest in the superhero scene, we doubt DC and Warner Bros. would be able to change his mind.

At this point, Jackson wants to focus on doing small films. He'll be returning to New Zealand, where he is expected to direct a smaller movie.
