There is no denying it. Big is in. Not surprisingly we're seeing a slew of smartphones and tablets with bigger displays lately. Joining the fray are humongous televisions that boast of ultra HD or UHD (4K) dipslay and Samsung is aiming to maintain its lead in the television industry with the release of a giant 110-inch UHD TV (110S9).

Samsung first offered hints about its 110-inch behemoth of a television set that will serve as the successor to the company's 85-inch model, at 2013 International CES. The company rolled out the new 110-inh UHD TV in select countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East on Monday. For now, the rest of the world will have to wait. The new UHD TV has been priced at $150,000. Samsung's 85-inch model comes with a $40,000 price tag.

The new giant television set measures 1.8 meters high and 2.6 meters wide, which makes it actually bigger than a king-sized bed. While there may be a handful of wealthy individuals seeking to purchase the new model for their living rooms, Samsung's 110-inch UHD TV is actually aimed to cater to large companies, organizations and government agencies. The UHD TV is expected to be showcased at 2014 International CES, which kicks off on January 7, 2014 in Las Vegas.

UHD TVs have been gaining popularity over the past few months. However, the problem has always been the lack of UHD content to play on these giant screens. This will soon change as companies such as Netflix have announced that they will start putting out UHD content. Netflix is set to roll out its UHD content and services in January 2014. The company has also announced that the second season of the hit show "House of Cards" will be the first series to be streamed in UHD. Other video streaming companies and content providers are also expected to follow suit in the coming year.
