Last month, we told you about a peculiarly emerald green cat wandering the streets of Varna, Bulgaria. At first, it was thought to be a victim of a cruel joke, but it turned out that the cat was simply sleeping on some green paint at a nearby construction site which made its fur greener and greener by the day.

Residents of the seaside town of Varna have taken a liking to their green feline and sightings of her still continue. Although these days, she has been considerably cleaned up and slightly plumper than her previous photos, she is still sporting some adorable green patches on parts of her coat.

According to reports, residents had a bit of a scare when she apparently disappeared last autumn for three days. A search was conducted to locate the whereabouts of their most beloved stray, which many feared was stolen because of her coat.

Fortunately, the kitty was not abducted but it seems that some Animal Welfare groups were concerned that the green paint may be harmful to the kitty or cause others to kitty-nap her from her beloved town, so they took her and cleaned her up as best as they could.

So Varna's most famous kitty now sports a grassy-green hint rather than her full psychedelic emerald green coloration. She is still roaming the streets, often seen with a ginger cat that many believe is her son.

Although her distinctively green color will be missed, we're just as happy to see the beautiful, natural color of the kitty's coat beginning to come back underneath the remnants of the green paint she was sleeping on.

Before you think of trying to replicate the accidental green hue that she once sported, just remember that artificially dying the fur of your pets for cosmetic reasons is actually an unhealthy practice which the RSPCA warns pet-owners has "potentially fatal consequences."
