A scrapped and supposed 2002 release of "Frank Herbert's Dune: Ornithopter Assault" for the Game Boy Advanced is not being remade and revived into a different game title. The new game is entitled "Elland: The Crystal Wars" and will have certain elements of doom to be changed due to copyright issues, after obtaining its license now.

The Retro Room proudly presents "Elland: The Crystal Waters," a Game Boy Advanced title that focuses on a remake and rebrand of a scrapped game in 2001 that revolves around the "Dune" franchise. "Frank Herbert's Dune: Ornithopter Assault" was supposedly a title released for the GBA console, bringing a continuation on the popular "Duniverse."

However, it was also the time where Cryo Interactive has been experiencing financial problems and eventually filed for bankruptcy, something that has canceled the project throughout. Now, the game is being remade, but would not focus on its elements as it is required of them to remove any traces of "Dune" and its elements from the game.

The game is still "Dune" of the 2001 canceled title as The Retro Room has obtained its license, only that it has no permission to use elements from the popular franchise.

The game would release by 2022 and this was revealed on its Kickstarter page that only refers to the game as an "unreleased GBA game." Currently, it has 163 backers that have contributed a massive $9,817 to fund the project and have the game released for people to play.

The developers want to release the game for all the fans that have initially missed out on it, especially those who are familiar with the gaming series and the "Duniverse."

A Treat for All 'Dune' Fans

Frank Herbert's popular sci-fi novel series called "Dune" has been revived by a movie that focuses on Denis Villeneuve's direction, recently released this 2021. Pre-production and casting have been up since early 2018, with Rebecca Ferguson being the top choice for Lady Jessica, a known Bene Gesserit that has powers of telepathy.

Despite the early success of the revival of the "Dune" movie franchise, news regarding the revamp of its popular PC and console games has not made any noise, especially as fans are looking for it. It is known that the popular novel series has been available since the early 1990s, following the story of the Atreides family, as well as its journey to the sandy planet of Arrakis.

Nevertheless, "Dune" now has its first contender for its game that would come soon for the public, something that would help in pushing forth the revival of its other games as the movies progress. The new game is renamed, but it would still have certain elements that it would keep from Dune and the game itself which is the very essence of it, only without certain copyright elements.
