California teen, Grant Virgin, was in a horrific accident that left him in a coma and the chance of never waking up again. However through sheer desperation and faith, his parents pushed against the odds to bring their son back from certain death. This is what led them to a new type of treatment that allowed Grant to make a miraculous recovery - all thanks to fish oil.

Last September, Grant Virgin was run over by a hit and run driver. It was reported that the woman behind the wheel stopped to survey the damage, after which she drove off and left Grant for dead.

The Desert Sun reported that Grant had multiple fractures in the skull, femurs, and both clavicle and heel. Furthermore, Grant's aorta was crushed, and his liver were lacerated.

According to the doctors who spoke to Grant's parents, JJ and John, he would never wake up from his coma, and they should just let him go.

"They told us to let him go," Grant's mother JJ, a celebrity nutritionist, told CNN.  "It's like, how dare you not fight for my son's life? ... It really took us ... getting very aggressive and assertive to save our son's life, because they weren't going to do it."

Fearing for their son's life, the family moved Grant to the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, and tried everything they could think of to bring their son back from what could have been his final nap.

Within a matter of days, the family got an email that alerted them of something called Omega 3 that is found in fish oil. They gave it to Grant on a daily basis and within a short time; Grant awoke from his coma and began to speak in short phrases. After that, Grant began to animate to the point where he's now walking and close to a full recovery.

"If you have a brick wall and it gets damaged, wouldn't you want to use bricks to repair it?" Dr. Michael Lewis, founder of the Brain Health Education and Research Institute, said. "By supplementing using (omega-3 fatty acids) in substantial doses, you provide the foundation for the brain to repair itself."

This isn't the first time we've come across the powers of Omega 3 fish oil. Back in 2006, 12 miners died due to an explosion in Sago, West Virginia, USA. The sole survivor, Randal McCloy Jr, had multiple brain injuries. However, he allegedly recovered due to Omega 3 fish oil.
