The biggest awards night for the music industry aired live on Sunday and among some of the crowd favorites were some surprise winners who beat out the bigger names of the evening.
Snagging the Grammy for Best New Artist was Aussie Sam Smith who made almost everyone tear up, just like he does with the moving love songs that earned him the award in the first place.
Other notable winners included Joan Rivers who posthumously won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word album, which her daughter, Melissa accepted on her behalf.
"If my mother was here tonight, she would not only be honored and thrilled to be holding her first Grammy, she would most likely have it copied and on the air on QVC by 11," Melissa Rivers said as the audience laughed, remembering the funny woman.
Although the Queen B won the Grammy's for Best R&B Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best Surround Sound Album, the Best Album award eluded her for yet another year. That accomplishment was given to Beck instead for Morning Phase.
