The best images so far on HTC's upcoming new flagship smartphone, the One M9, has been leaked through a German retail website over the weekend, increasing the excitement surrounding the device.

Smartphone news website Mobilegeeks.de discovered the leaked images, which appeared like full device renders, at the Cyberport.de online retail website. HTC followers would know that such renders are what the company uses to picture new gadgets on their launch days.

While there is certainly no shortage of fan-made images in the Internet today of the much-anticipated One M9, the discovery by Mobilegeeks reveals an interesting detail that may make or break the authenticity of the images.

The images show that the One M9 deviates from the unibody design that is seen in its predecessor the One M8. One of the images shows a gold-on-silver design, which means that the smartphone has either a frame and a backplate or HTC has decided to bond two different metallic colors together.

According to tweets sent out by Upleaks, in addition to the gold-on-silver design that is seen on the leaked images, users have two other options for the colors of the One M9. The first is a full dark gunmetal color, while the second one is a gold-on-gold option.

While the pages where the images were discovered have already been pulled out, the pages also may have confirmed the specifications that are being rumored of the One M9.

It is expected that the One M9 will have an octo-core 8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, along with 3GB worth of RAM. The smartphone is also expected to have an internal storage capacity of 32GB with an expandable microSD memory card feature, and will be powered by the Android 5.0 Lollipop mobile operating system.

The display for the One M9 is a 5-inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel screen. The One M9 is also expected to have a 20.7MP rear-facing camera and a 4MP front-facing camera that is powered by the UltraPixel sensor.

The smartphone is reportedly 9.61mm thick and weights 157.5g, with a battery of 2900 mAh that represents a slight improvement over that of the One M8.

The leaked images and specifications come just over a week from the official launch of the device in the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2015, which will be held on March 1. At the event, all the rumors and expectations for the upcoming One M9 will finally be put to rest as the company will unveil all the official details of the smartphone.
