This is turning out to be a very exciting week for cartoon fans. First we learned that a DuckTales reboot will come to Disney XD in 2017. Then we learned Netflix is bringing back old-school cartoons like Inspector Gadget and Danger Mouse. Now Nickelodeon is making headlines for bringing back more oldie but goodie animation series for young children.

Wanting a piece of the video streaming pie, Nickelodeon announcing it will release a new online service aimed for preschoolers.

The paid streaming service called Noggin will feature old episodes from classic series such as Blue's Clues, Little Bear, Gullah Gullah Island and Allegra's Window. More recent fan favorites such as Dora The Explorer won't be featured, however.

Even in their adult years many people love classic cartoons, but an appreciation for animation really begins when children are young. And since it is targeting kids in preschool, Noggin will also feature educational content, as well as music videos, games and activities.

Nickelodeon's streaming service will cost $5.99 per month, making it slightly more expensive than the $3.99 Sesame Street's streaming service costs parents. Still, Noggin will compete against Netflix's Kids section, Amazon's FreeTime and the new YouTube Kids app. That means parents will have more control over what types of content their young children are watching.

The new service for preschoolers comes after the network said last month that it was looking to focus its service on mobile devices. The Viacom-owned network for children already offers streaming of episodes on its Nick and Nick Jr. apps for iOS and Android.

Noggin will be available on iOS devices only starting March 5.
