It's spring, which means gaming publishers typically take a break and stop releasing new games. That may sound like a worst-case scenario for gamers, but there is a silver lining: when there's nothing new for publishers to release, they start throwing sales. Last week, there were tons of discounts across a huge variety of different games. Fortunately, that trend is continuing this week.

On top of that, it's not just individual games getting the big discounts: some pretty big sales have popped up, with publishers offering discounts across a big portion of their catalog. True, this week's sales aren't anywhere near as massive as the annual Steam Summer Sale, but don't think that means they aren't worth checking out. There are quite a few ongoing sales that definitely deserve a look.

That said — there's no point in buying new games if you don't have something to play them on, so take this opportunity to get everything you need to play!

Xbox One (+The Master Chief Collection and two controllers)

Price: $359
Available on: eBay

Not only are you getting one of the best consoles on the market today, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and an extra controller for the standard price — you're also getting three months of Xbox Live Gold. This kind of deal almost never pops up, so grab it while you can.

Xbox Live Gold 12-Month Membership

Price: $36.79
Available on: CDKeys.com

Of course, if three months of Xbox Live Gold isn't enough, CDKeys has a full year's subscription for a low cost. If you own an Xbox, you basically need Xbox Live Gold, so pick it up while it's cheap.

Battlefield Hardline

Price: $40
Available on: Amazon

Watch Dogs

Price: $20
Available on: Amazon

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (Xbox One)

Far Cry 4 (Xbox One)

Both Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry 4 are also discounted on the PS4, but the cheapest option for both is the Xbox One version.

The Wolf Among Us (PS4)

You'll need a Prime account to make the deal worth it, but it's the best price that the PS4 version has ever seen.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Price: $44.96
Available on: Amazon

Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

Price: $48
Available on: Amazon

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D (3DS)

Price: $35
Available on: Amazon

Considering that it only came out on Tuesday, most people wouldn't expect Mortal Kombat X to get a discount, but there's actually a few different ways to pick up a copy for cheap.

  - The first option is on eBay, where you can score the game for $10 off

  - The second is through Amazon, where you get the game and a DualShock 4 controller for $100

  - Finally, the third (and cheapest) option is through CDKeys, where you can nab the PC version for only $22!

In terms of the bigger sales, Nintendo's Super Spring Sale replaces Microsoft's: the publisher has discounted a bunch of its newer Wii U and 3DS games, as well as reducing a number of its games on the eShop. There's nothing particularly new here, but if you're looking to fill in some of the gaps in your library, the Super Spring Sale should satisfy.

For PlayStation owners, Titan Souls joins the Spring Fever lineup, while every game in the Grand Theft Auto series (excluding the latest game) on sale for super-cheap.

As always, Steam's Weeklong Deals, Midweek Madness and Weekend Deals are all live, and you can check out the hundreds of games on discount at the official Steam store.

What are you waiting for? There are literally hundreds of games on sale this week, but they won't stay cheap for long!
