Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is a thing — this much was already known. But we had no idea that Michael Bay and Paramount Pictures had plans to bring two of the most infamous villains in the franchise to life in the live-action sequel.

If you don't already know who we have in mind, we're talking about Bebop and Rocksteady. Bebop is a mutated warthog, and Rocksteady is a mutated rhinoceros. Both bad guys made their debut in the TMNT cartoon back in 1987 — and it didn't take long for them to become the favorite villains of many fans.

These creatures were created by Shredder to aid him in taking down the Turtles, among other things. After the mutation transformation process was complete, they came out looking pretty badass. Though they were stronger — they were certainly no smarter, which is why they never managed to best the Turtles and tend to make Shredder angry.

In a recent comic, the writers allowed Bebop and Rocksteady to do something no one could have expected. It was shocking to the point that it upset some fans. But we understand it was in an attempt to make Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cool again, where the comics are concerned.

Not a lot is known about the sequel other than that it comes out in 2016, and that Stephen Amell, the actor who plays Oliver Queen on the CW's Arrow series, has been pegged to play Casey Jones. Furthermore, basketball players will also supposed to show up in the film, so we're guessing the Turtles might sneak out to watch a basketball game — up close and personal.

The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film was not the best, but it managed to earn nearly $500 million at the box office, which is the sole reason why a sequel is being planned today. Having seen the first movie, we can safely say it wasn't that good — so if the second one is just as bad, it won't necessarily tank at the box office.

We hope it succeeds, mainly for the sake of Stephen Amell since he's such a good sport.
