Lenovo today introduced improved versions of its Flex 2 family of dual-purpose laptops that include a full HD screen that folds back, allowing the laptop to be used a mini movie screen and a new all-in-one PC.

The new Flex 2 laptops, the 14 D and 15D, come with either a 14-inch or 15.6-inch display and will ship in June, with respective prices of $799 and $429.

The Flex allows the user to operate the computer in either traditional laptop or stand mode. The display can fold back 300 degrees, allowing users to easily view videos on the 1,920 X 1,080 full HD widescreen display. There are 10 finger-touch displays that give the user the ability to take full advantage of the Windows 8.1 operating system that runs each model.

"The new Flex 2 gives consumers two great devices -- a full-function, multitouch laptop and a second, stand mode -- in one machine, all at an extremely affordable price," said Dilip Bhatia, VP of worldwide marketing and design in Lenovo's PC Group. "New features like a crystal-clear high resolution screen and the latest processing technologies make it even more suited to helping express and manage consumer's digital lives."

Lenovo is offering the models in different configurations. Consumers may choose Nvidia GeForce graphics on models with up to 4th generation Intel Core i7 processors. Other options include AMD Radeon R5 M230 discrete graphics and AMD APU processors all the way up to AMD A8 models with on-chip Radeon graphics.

For better movie viewing capability, the laptops come with Dolby Advanced Audio v2 technology.

Other options include having up to a 1TB hard disk drive installed, 256-GB solid state drive or a 1TB hybrid drive. Hybrid drives offer the best of both storage worlds with a high capacity and a small amount of flash memory for quicker boot times.

The A540 all-in-one has a 23.8-inch 10-finger touch display that can be pivoted up to 90 degrees back, enabling the consumer to set it up in the most useful position, the company said.

It also comes with Nvidia GeForce GT 840A graphics, up to an Intel 4th generation Core i7 processor, JBL speakers with Dolby Home Theater, optional Near Field Communications and an optional TV Tuner.

Starting price for the A540 is $1,279. It will be available in July.
