Rumors having been surfacing in the tablet industry that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and the Tab S2 9.7 will succeed Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5. However, it seems that the release of the next-generation Samsung tablets is imminent as the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 has been approved by China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, or TENAA.

A previous report also revealed that Samsung is preparing for the launch of the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and the Tab S2 9.7 are competitors to the iPads and Nexus 9. Per previous reports both the Samsung tablets will be available in Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi and cellular models.

The TENNA website suggests that the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 will get an 8-inch AMOLED screen with a display resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels. The Tab S2 9.7 will also get a similar display resolution. The tablet will have 4:3 aspect ratio. The upcoming Tab S2 8.0 will weigh 9.17 ounces, or 260 grams and measure 7.80 x 5.29 x 0.21 inch, or 198.2 x 134.5 x 5.4 mm.

While the Tab S2 9.7 has not appeared on TENNA's website, previous reports suggest that the 9-inch tablet will measure about 9.33 x 6.67 x 0.21-inch, or 237.17 x 169.58 x 5.5 mm.

At just 0.21-inch, the next-generation Tab S2 8.0 and the Tab S2 9.7 will become the thinnest tablets in the entire world. The iPad mini 3 is 0.29-inch thick and the iPad Air 2 is 0.24-inch thick.

Both the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and the Tab S2 9.7 will run on Android Lollipop operating system. A 1.9 GHz qual-core processor and 3GB RAM will power the Tab S2 8.0. The 8-inch Samsung tablet will also be equipped with a 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front snapper. The tablet will offer different internal storage options starting from 16GB, which can be extended using a microSD card.

Samsung has not yet revealed the price and availability of the tablets so customers will have to wait until both the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and the Tab S2 9.7 are made available in the market.
