Warner Brothers recently announced that although Wonder Woman plays a small part in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice film, she will still get her own line of merchandise as part of the film's promotion.

Perhaps learning from the mistakes of its competitors, Warner Brothers plans on making sure that unlike Marvel's Black Widow, DC's Wonder Woman will get her fair share of time in kids' toy aisles on retail shelves.

This comes after Disney and Marvel failed fans of Avengers character Black Widow by providing very little merchandise for the character after the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Marvel even went so far as giving some of Black Widow's in-film gadgets to male characters in their merchandising.

Apparently, DC and Warner Brothers, paid attention to the controversy over Black Widow, and today Warner Brothers Consumers Products CEO Karen McTier stated that Wonder Woman would not receive the same treatment when merchandise comes out for Batman V Superman.

"This is the first time ever that fans will see Batman and Superman together in a theatrical event. And let's not forget the two new Batsuits, a new Batmobile, the Batwing, a new logo and Wonder Woman that all create really merchandisable elements for our partners," says McTier to LicenseMag.com. "We have had phenomenal success with each character in their own world, but now we are able to supercharge the opportunity based on the most universally recognized Super Heroes."

However, McTier pointed out that the Wonder Woman merchandise line will be more than sparse.

"Our comprehensive program will include Wonder Woman in the merchandise lines and in standalone products supporting the film," says McTier. "We have always had a robust line for Wonder Woman, and her role in this film and future films offers us more opportunities to feature her character and empowering attributes in many creative ways."

Of course, also unlike Marvel's Black Widow, Warner Brothers also plans on giving Wonder Woman a solo film, with production set to begin this fall.

This also could mean that Wonder Woman's appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is much larger than we thought. Her role in the film remains a mystery, but at least we'll get to see some cool merchandise featuring our favorite Amazonian princess with its release.
