Online retail company Amazon is selling HTC's One M9+ in the United States, despite HTC's statements that it will not be releasing the smartphone in the country.

Amazon is known to be a channel through which customers in the United States can purchase products that have not been officially launched in the country, and the One M9+ is the latest example of such a product that the company has made available to United States customers in this manner.

The One M9+ smartphones being offered by Amazon are unlocked, and are powered by Android 5.0 Lollipop upon shipping. The device comes with a price of $799 and is available in two colors, namely Gunmetal Grey and Silver Gold.

Similar to the One M9, the version of HTC's flagship smartphone that is widely available including in the United States, the One M9+ is composed of metal parts. However, its size is bigger compared to the One M9, with a 5.2-inch screen compared to the 5.0-inch screen of the One M9.

The One M9+ also packs a fingerprint scanner, a 4MP UltraPixel front camera, a 20MP Duo rear camera, an octa-core MediaTek MT6795T processor with 3GB worth of RAM and 32GB of expandable memory.

Amazon's One M9+ devices are compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile's 3G networks, but will not work on such networks under Sprint and Verizon. In addition, the device will not support the LTE networks in the United States.

Amazon does not specify how many units it has left in stock for the smartphone, but the high demand for the device could see the retail giant's supply of the One M9+ dwindle quickly.

Supply for another HTC smartphone supposedly not to be available in the United States that Amazon is selling, however, is now dangerously low.

Amazon is also selling the One E9+, which is even larger than the One M9+. The smartphone packs a 5.5-inch screen, but the device is made out of plastic components as opposed to the metal ones of the One M9+. The One E9+ does not boast of a Duo rear camera and does not have a fingerprint scanner, and supports only the same 3G networks that the One M9+ does.

However, its price is much lower at $499, which could possibly be why Amazon only has only 15 units left in stock for the grey version and 2 units left in stock for the delicate rose/white version at the time of writing.

The One M9+ and the One E9+ are the first quad HD smartphones released by HTC.
