Open world games and HD remasters are two of the most popular types of video games right now, so it makes perfect sense for Activision to re-release Prototype 1 and 2.

The two games are now available for purchase as part of the Prototype Biohazard Bundle digital download on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 digital storefronts. In addition to both games, the bundle also provides the DLC included in the special edition of the game, as well as DLC offered through retailer exclusive pre-orders.

Activision says both games feature improved visuals in the form of texture upgrades, increased frame rates and full HD rendering.

If you haven't played Prototype or Prototype 2, they are open-world titles set in a New York City infected with a virus. This virus has much of the city locked down in a quarantine zone, with the citizens who are trapped turning into crazed zombie-like creatures. As the "prototype," players have a large array of crazy powers at their disposal to take on the military and the infected. From giant, boulder-like hands to carapace like body armor, players can evolve their character on-the-fly to suit the situation at hand. And send tentacles flying everywhere.

While the story and the visuals of the two games aren't anything that will knock your socks off, the sandbox gameplay they offer (and the sheer amount of mayhem players can cause) is worth checking out. You can check out the launch trailer for the bundle below to see the game's improved visuals and increased frame rate.

The Prototype Biohazard Bundle is available for $49.99. Each game will also be available separately starting August 11. No word yet on whether the bundle will be getting a physical retail release.
